After the evacuation at Dunkirk, June 1940, some 1000’s of British prisoners are despatched to German P.O.W. camps. One such group contains “Capt. Geoffrey Mitchell,” a concentration-camp escapee who assumed the identification of a useless British officer. To keep away from publicity, “Mitchell” should correspond with the useless man’s estranged spouse Celia. However eventual publicity appears sure, and the lads should discover a solution to get him out. If he reaches England, although, what is going to his reception be? (1946)
